SQL Database Admin

Job Purpose

Responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting SQL database systems to ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability across the organization. The SQL Database Administrator ensures that database environments align with business needs, ICT policies, company policies and regulatory requirements. 

ACCOUNTIBILITIES

•Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instances and related components.
•Create, manage, and maintain databases, schemas, tables, indexes, and other database objects.
•Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies including indexing, query tuning, and statistics maintenance.
•Perform database health checks, capacity planning, and generate regular performance and health reports.
•Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies, ensuring RPO/RTO alignment with business continuity needs.
•Configure and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions (AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication).
•Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, errors, and service disruptions.
•Implement and manage database security controls including user management, role-based access, encryption (TDE, SSL), and auditing.
•Perform database patching, updates, and version upgrades while ensuring system stability.
•Collaborate with application and development teams to optimize database designs, queries, and stored procedures.
•Ensure compliance with IT governance policies, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory requirements.
•Document database architecture, configurations, operational procedures, and change activities.
•Support incidents, problems, and change management processes as part of IT operations.

Position Requirements

• Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Special Certification or Training Required: Microsoft Certified: Microsoft SQL Server Certification, Database Certification, ITIL.
• Required Industry Experience: 4-5 years in SQL Server database administration.
• Technological Requirements:  SQL Server, Clustering, AlwaysOn, Replication, PowerShell.
• Language Requirements: Arabic - English
